According to Leftlane News, Mazda is set to unveil another entry-level vehicle at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The Mazda2, as you can probably guess, will be placed below the Mazda3 in the carmaker's lineup, giving consumers yet another budget-minded transportation solution. Looking at it, the Mazda2 looks much like the Mazda3 Sport in that both are five door hatchbacks that border on station wagon-like styling. At least, that's the impression that I'm getting.
Faced with rapidly increasing fuel prices, more people are looking for more efficient vehicles. In this way, we're starting to see cars like the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa gain in popularity. After all, they're small enough to barely sip on gas, but they boast plenty of cargo space inside -- thanks largely to the extended hatchback design -- so that you've got room to stash all those goodies you need to carry around with you.
The five-passenger Mazda2 is not a completely new vehicle. The compact has been making its rounds in Europe and Asia as the Demio, but the current rumor has the car crossing the ocean over to the United States as a 2008 model, following in the same line of thought that brought the Honda Fit (known as the Jazz in Europe) to the U S of A.
