We're still nearly four months away from the launch of the Apple iPhone, but I'm sure you've been bombarded with all sorts of stories, conjecture, opinion pieces, rumors, and so-called "hands-on sessions" with the upcoming must-have handset from Steve Jobs and the rest of the Cupertino crew. Believe me, this media bonanza is nowhere near its conclusion. In fact, it's only just begun. The Apple iPhone received its first television ad spot during tonight's broadcast of the Academy Awards on ABC.
What's interesting is that it seems that advertising firms (or at least the ones being hired at the moment) have a thing for single word taglines. While the Zune had "Welcome to the Social", Microsoft went simply with "Wow" for Vista. Apple is doing something very similar with the iPhone, except their single word tagline is "Hello." I guess that makes sense, since it's a cell phone, but at the same time, it's pretty lame. Not that it matters, because I'm sure the multitouch-loving iPhone will sell like hotcakes regardless of what anyone says. Thanks, but I'll wait for the second iteration before even considering the purchase, ideally with 3G and a removable battery.
Anyways, if you want to watch the "Hello" Apple iPhone ad spot, it can be downloaded here (.mov file).
