It seems that the Apple iPhone has caused just as much bad press as it has good. Everyone is drooling over its super pretty interface and unique multi-touch display technology, but wait.... that's not unique at all! Apple Insider is reporting that Steve Jobs and the rest of the crew in Cupertino could be up for yet another lawsuit surrounding the iPhone because Quantum Research says that they own the patent to that particular touchscreen.
They haven't officially filed suit just yet, but according to a QR representative, "The description of the iPhone suggests it uses a rear-surface touch screen, and has proximity sensing which can tell if it is held to the ear. That’s a QR capability."
This follows a December 2005 lawsuit by Quantum wherein they said the click wheel was their idea too. And I don't need to remind you about the whole Cisco/Linksys owning the iPhone moniker fiasco either. And yes, that's not resolved yet either.
Any publicity is good publicity? Maybe. Unless it cost$ you million$ in legal fee$ and payout$.
