Although digital television technology has been around since 1990s, HDTV(high definition TV) seems to be lately picking up the steam. HDTV technology offers high quality pictures and theatre quality Dolby sound to support 5.1 channel surround sound.
Why do people prefer to go to theatres when they have HDTV?
I have got this question a few times and it has kept me thinking for a while. After a bit of research, I found out that the film quality played in movie theatres have the highest quality and best viewing experience on a big screen.
Nevertheless, HDTV is much superior than the ordinary TV signal we receive at our homes. Here are the main components that are needed to into high definition TV:
- An over the air terk antenna
- HDTV-capable television
- A special HDTV tuner which can decode the over the air signals. Tuners are not needed for digital cable.
- HDMI cables rather than the composite cables
- HDTV can also be viewed over the computer through a special tuner
